The Cleveland Browns will host the Packers at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024 at 4:25 p.m. EST.

Matchup

  • The Packers hold an advantage with a 13-7 all-time regular season record, but the Browns are 4-7 against Green Bay at home.
  • The last time the Browns and Packers played against one another was on Christmas Day in 2021. Cleveland lost to Green Bay 24-22.
  • The Browns last beat the Packers in the regular season on Sept. 18, 2005, with a final score of 26-24.

Storylines to Watch

  • Jameis Winston starting at quarterback — Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Aug. 6 that QB Deshaun Watson would not play in the first preseason game, and that QB Jameis Winston would start. Throughout training camp, Winston has looked strong in his reps in both individual and team drills, connecting with the pass catchers and finding opportunities to spread the ball around. Winston was also seen at The Greenbrier racing with Mike Vrabel at the end of individual drills with the quarterbacks as they ran down to the other end of the field.
  • Backup players to take advantage of opportunity Stefanski also shared that some starters will play in about 10 plays in the first preseason game. With starters not playing the entirety of the game, it opens the door for younger players and others looking to earn a roster spot to showcase their value in a game setting. The Browns can use these game reps for these players to evaluate before the final roster cuts are made before the regular season.
  • Packers QB Jordan Love to start Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced on Aug. 5 that QB Jordan Love will start in the preseason game, as well as most starters. Love ended the 2023 season starting all 17 games, and threw 372 completions for 4,159 total yards and 32 touchdowns.
