Storylines to Watch
- How the Browns prepare for adjustments from Steelers — The division rivals just saw one another two weeks ago in Week 12 of the 2024 season, when the Browns hosted the Steelers at Huntington Bank Field on Thursday Night Football. Cleveland came away with a 24-19 victory over Pittsburgh. With just one game in between their last matchup — in which the Browns lost to the Broncos and the Steelers beat Cincinnati — they will play their second matchup of the season at Acrisure Stadium. Both teams have film from their recent matchup to game plan and make adjustments from the first meeting between the two teams.
- How the Browns protect QB Jameis Winston from LB T.J. Watt — While LB T.J. Watt did not have much success in the first meeting between the Browns and Steelers this season, recording just four tackles and one tackle for loss, the Browns have to game plan for his ability to apply pressure and sack opposing quarterbacks. This season, Watt has totaled 9.5 sacks, 43 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback hits, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three passes defensed. He is tied for seventh in the league in total sacks this season.
- Apply pressure to QB Russell Wilson— In Week 12, the Browns defense applied pressure on QB Russell Wilson, as they totaled 15 pressures and had a 41.7 percent QB pressure rate. Wilson completed a total 21 of 28 passing attempts for 270 yards and one touchdown, but against pressure, completed just 5 of 9 passes for 72 yards. Wilson was also sacked four times for a loss of 22 yards. DE Myles Garrett led the way for the Browns with eight quarterback pressures and three sacks, according to Next Gen Stats. DT Dalvin Tomlinson added five pressures, while LB Jordan Hicks added another sack. The Steelers turned the ball over twice on downs, and were forced to punt the ball once. The Browns defense forced the Steelers into field goal attempts three times, which resulted in just two made field goals. The Browns pass rush will need to continue to apply that pressure on Wilson and limit his success in the pass game.
