The Browns held their final practice for the week before the first preseason game on Aug. 10 against the Packers.
Early in the week, head coach Kevin Stefanski said they are going to play some of their starters for about 10 plays in the first preseason game. But QB Deshaun Watson will not play. The Browns could also choose to rest other starters or players working back from injuries.
Before practice was underway, Stefanski said DT Quinton Jefferson was OK after he got up slowly following a play in Tuesday's indoor practice. Stefanski also said that G Wyatt Davis was back at practice after missing a few days.
LB Tony Fields II and WR Jerry Jeudy did not practice on Thursday. Jeudy had returned to practice on Aug. 4 when he participated fully for the first time in training camp.
DE Za'Darius Smith, DT Shelby Harris and LB Jordan Hicks also did not practice, but they were on the sideline watching throughout practice. Stefanski said that Smith is dealing with a knee contusion, but will be OK, while Harris has missed some time in training camp with an injury.
CB Greg Newsome II – who is on the active/non-football injury list – was back on the sideline with his teammates watching practice.
RB D'Onta Foreman, who suffered a scary injury in one of the final days at The Greenbrier, returned to practice on Thursday. He went through individual drills with the running backs.
Foreman endured the injury after a collision on a punt return, but his X-rays and CT scans came back negative, and he returned to the team.
