The Cleveland Browns have signed TE Matt Lengel to the practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team released TE J.P. Holtz from the practice squad.

A 6-7, 265-pound second-year TE out of Eastern Kentucky, Lengel was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He spent all of 2015 season and the first eight weeks of the 2016 season as a member of the Bengals' practice squad before being added to the New England Patriots' active roster on Nov. 2. Lengel appeared in six regular-season matchups for the Patriots last season, as well as all three of the team's postseason games, including Super Bowl LI. He finished the year with two receptions for 22 yards and a score.

Collegiately, he appeared in 37 games at Eastern Kentucky and totaled 33 receptions for 361 yards.

A native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lengel attended Cumberland Valley High School. [
