The Browns are adding depth to their offensive line as they have agreed to terms with OT Cornelius Lucas on a two-year deal.

Lucas is entering his 12th NFL season and spent the last five seasons with the Commanders. In 2024, Lucas played 464 offensive snaps and allowed just one sack, and over his career in Washington, started games at both left and right tackle.

He first signed as an undrafted free agent with the Lions in 2014 where he spent the first three years of his NFL career. He spent one season each with the Rams, Saints and Bears before making his way to the Commanders in 2020. In his five seasons in Washington, Lucas started 38 of the 76 games he played.

Lucas joins a veteran offensive line that is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2024 season, one that was filled with injuries. RG Wyatt Teller missed Weeks 4 through 7 with a knee injury. RT Jack Conklin missed the first five games of the season as he recovered from a knee injury. LT Jedrick Wills Jr. played just five games in 2024 before being placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury. The Browns used seven different combinations through the first eight games of the season as they rotated through available players.

As players returned to the lineup, they found consistency in the latter half of the season to improve as a unit.

However, they still have health questions heading into the 2025 season with T Dawand Jones, who sustained a fracture in his leg in Week 11 against the Saints that required surgery. He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 19 and missed the remainder of the season. While Jones will use the offseason to continue his rehab and prepare for the 2025 season, Lucas provides another option as a swing tackle for the Browns.

Lucas also joins a veteran group with the Browns which will feature the return of G Joel Bitonio for another season, alongside Conklin, Teller and C Ethan Pocic. With their leadership and years of playing experience, there is hope the offensive line can bounce back in 2025.

The Browns agreed to terms with T Cornelius Lucas, who has played in 129 career games with 54 starts with the Lions, Rams, Saints, Bears and Commanders.
