The Cleveland Browns have signed DT Jowon Briggs (pronounced JOE-whan) to the active roster from the practice squad. To make room on the roster, the Browns waived QB Bailey Zappe. The team has also elevated WR Kadarius Toney and WR Michael Woods II from the practice squad.
Briggs (6-1, 313) is a rookie out of Cincinnati. A seventh-round selection by the Browns this year, Briggs has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad. He will wear No. 97.
Zappe served as inactive third quarterback the past four games.
Toney (6-0, 193) is in his fourth NFL season out of Florida. Originally a first-round pick by the Giants in 2021, Toney has appeared in 33 career games, including one with the Browns. He has recorded 82 career receptions for 760 yards with three touchdowns, while adding 22 rushes for 112 yards and a score. Toney will wear No. 87.
Woods (6-1, 204) is in his third NFL season out of Oklahoma. A sixth-round pick by the Browns in 2022, Woods has appeared in 10 career games and recorded five receptions for 45 yards. Woods will wear No. 81.
