On a cold Friday night Bay Village and Padua Franciscan met for the Division 3 Regional Semifinals.
The game started off slow as both teams' defenses were able to contain the opposing team's run game. It didn't start heating up until midway through the second quarter. Bay Village's and past HSGOTW MVP #22 Trey Psota was able to find the end zone twice in the second quarter. Psota scored on a 1-yard and a 10-yard rush to put his team up 14-0 going into the half.
At the half both teams' bands put on a great show to keep the fans entertained during the cold Friday night.
The second half started off similar to the beginning of the game. Both teams' defenses were able to control the run games. It wasn't until late in the 3rd quarter when Padua's #31 Drew Butler connected with #6 Jordan Walker. Padua's drive ended with a 2-yard rush from #32 Trenton Cramer. Padua soon had the momentum going into the fourth quarter, but that was stopped after Butler threw an interception midway through the fourth. Bay Village was able to run out the clock and score a last minute touchdown thanks to #43 Matthew Cover.
Bay Village defeated Padua 21-7. Trey Psota was selected as this week's High School Game of the Week MVP, as he finished the game with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. This is Trey's second time winning this award this season.
Of course no Friday night is complete without some great volunteers. This week we met Maria Rowlett who was selling Krispy Kreme donuts outside of the snack stand to help benefit the North Royalton Athletic boosters. All of the proceed generated from tonight's game will go back into the North Royalton athletic department.
Congratulations to Bay Village for moving on in the playoffs, and congratulations to Padua on a great season.
