Browns RB Nick Chubb is expected to take the practice field for the first time in over a year on Wednesday.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday that Chubb is expected to return to practice on Wednesday this week, opening his 21-day practice window before he has to be put on the active roster. This is the first time Chubb has practiced since he sustained the season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

"He's working very hard," Stefanski said. "Natural progression is for him to start practicing, and he's ready to do that. And then we'll see how he goes from there."

Chubb has spent the last year rehabbing from two surgeries he underwent to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament, as well as his anterior cruciate ligament. Stefanski has said throughout his recovery process that Chubb has taken the necessary steps and approach to return to the field.

During the offseason program, Chubb spoke about his recovery and the progress he's made since the injury in Week 2, noting how he was continuing to feel better each day as he took a day by day approach. Chubb has been in the meeting rooms and around his teammates in order to be around the game, visualize the plays and keep his mind on football.

Chubb was placed on injured reserve to begin the 2024 season as he continued his recovery, and has missed the first four games of the season.

"Very workmanlike, it's the next step for him," Stefanski said. "I've seen him in this building very early in the morning. Has an attitude that he's just punching the clock, trying to get ready whenever he is ready."
