INDIANAPOLIS – When Travis Hunter was about four years old, his grandmother signed him up for football.

Since then, he's developed a deep love of the game – one that has transpired into playing two different positions in high school and college. Now, as Hunter meets with teams at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, he believes he can play on both sides of the ball in the NFL.

"Nobody has done it, but I feel like I put my body through a lot," Hunter said. "I do a lot of treatment. People don't get to see that part of what I do for my body to make sure I'm 100% in each game. But I feel like, because nobody has done it, and I know I can do. I did at a college level."

Hunter is projected as one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft and is listed as a WR/CB. While he's had meetings with teams as a receiver or as a corner, Hunter has tried to illustrate his ability to play both.

"They say nobody's ever done it the way I do it," Hunter said. "I tell them I'm different."

Hunter said Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was one of the few coaches who saw Hunter play both corner and wide receiver in high school and the potential to continue to play both sides of the ball in college.

Over his two seasons at Colorado, Hunter totaled 153 receptions for 1,979 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. He also added two carries for five yards and one touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 66 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 16 passes defensed and one forced fumble.

Hunter attributes his capability to play both receiver and corner to the way that he takes care of his body. Over his playing career, he's learned what his body needs to recover. He does a variety of different recovery treatments including the cold tub, hot tub, Cryo and red lighting. From the mental prep for opposing offenses and defenses, Hunter said he spent extra time studying by himself and with the coaches to help him be prepared.

NFL prospects speak at their media availability at the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana.

As Hunter continues to meet with teams and organizations evaluate him as a prospect, they'll make their own decision about which side of the ball Hunter lines up on. Hunter acknowledged that whichever team takes in the draft will make the decision on where he plays.

"I like to play both sides of the ball, if they give me the opportunity play both sides of the ball, I'll play both sides," Hunter said.

One of those teams evaluating Hunter is the Browns, who hold the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager acknowledged that Hunter has the skillet to play both corner and receiver, which sets him apart.

In terms of their evaluation for the Browns, Berry said they view Hunter as a receiver first before a corner.

"But I think part of what makes him a bit of a unicorn is that he can do both at a high level," Berry said. "I do think there is just an element where his superpower is really his ball skills. And that's a position where you could use it 100 times during the season versus maybe 30 on the high end. But we'll have our coaches and scouts fight it out in terms of where he should be on the board. But any team he goes to will be happy to have him."

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner has high aspirations as he takes the next step in his football career. He used to watch current Browns WR Jerry Jeudy and copy his movements as he was coming up. Now, Hunter has established his own unique style as a player and wants to take that style to the NFL. While Hunter said he will not work out during the combine, he believes he's established himself as a top player in this year's draft class.

"It's one of my dreams to go No. 1 and the best I can be," Hunter said.
