The Browns fell to 2-7 on the season after losing 27-10 to the Chargers in their Week 9 matchup. They wrapped up their three-game home stand 1-2 as they head into the bye week.
"Costly mistakes hurt us, and we just couldn't dig out of that hole in the second half. So extremely disappointed and we've got to learn from this," head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game.
Here are 10 key stats to know following the Browns' seventh loss of the season.
2 – CB Denzel Ward finished with two passes defensed on Sunday. Ward has recorded a pass defensed in each game this season, marking the first nine-game streak of his career.
2.1 – The Browns averaged just 2.1 yards per play in the first half, in which the Chargers jumped to a 17-point lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the game.
3 – QB Jameis Winston threw three interceptions in Sunday's loss, his 13th career game with three or more interceptions.
4 – The Browns committed four penalties for a loss of 25 total yards. The Chargers committed five for a loss of 35 yards.
6 – The Browns sacked QB Justin Herbert six times, with DT Shelby Harris, DT Dalvin Tomlinson and LB Devin Bush joining DE Myles Garrett, who had three sacks, in sacking the quarterback. However, Winston was also sacked six times.
9 – The Chargers finished with nine explosive plays, including six passing plays for 20 or more yards and three runs for 10 or more yards. Their longest play of the day was a 66-yard touchdown pass to WR Quentin Johnston.
16 - Garrett had three sacks on Sunday for a total loss of 16 yards. All three sacks came within a four-play span. His dominant performance marked the fourth time Garrett has had three or more sacks in a single game.
33 – The Browns scored a touchdown on just 33 percent of their trips to the red zone, on a 17-yard touchdown to Cedric Tillman with under a minute remaining in the game down three scores. On their other two trips, Hopkins made a 38-yard field goal and Winston threw an interception on a pass intended for WR Jerry Jeudy.
34 – The Browns possessed the ball for over 34 minutes, over eight minutes longer than the Chargers. They ran 76 plays compared to the Chargers' 56 total plays.
35 – The Browns converted just 35 percent of their third down attempts, converting just one of seven third down attempts in the first half.
