The Browns have a change at the quarterback position for Week 16.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson would earn the start against the Bengals.
"Wanted to give him an opportunity and give him an entire week to prepare as a starter," Stefanski said. "So, that's what went into the decision."
Thompson-Robinson has played in four games this season, completing 15 of 34 passing attempts for 100 yards. He's also thrown three interceptions and been sacked once.
Following Deshaun Watson's season-ending Achilles injury in Week 7, Jameis Winston took over at quarterback in Week 8 against the Ravens. In his seven games as the starting quarterback, Winston completed 175 of 284 passing attempts for 2,038 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also threw 12 interceptions and was sacked 23 times in that seven-game stretch.
"He's a pro," Stefanski said of Winston. "He wants to do whatever he can do to help this football team. He'll continue to do that. He'll continue to lead in his own way. He'll continue to provide great leadership to this football team. He's a pro's pro."
As the Browns head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals for the second time this season, Thompson-Robinson will earn the chance to be at the helm of the offense once again. When the Browns faced Cincinnati in Week 7 at Huntington Bank Field, Thompson-Robinson completed 11 of 24 passing attempts for 82 yards and two interceptions.
