Browns drop their final preseason game to the Seahawks

QB Tyler Huntley threw three touchdown passes in the 37-33 loss

Postgame Recap Browns v. Seahawks

The Browns lost their final game of the preseason 37-33 to the Seahawks late Saturday night – or early Sunday morning for those who watched on the East Coast.

QB Jameis Winston started the game for the Browns, playing two drives before quarterbacks Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Tyler Huntley took over to finish out the game.

Seattle made several explosive plays, including a punt return touchdown, and led for the entirety of the game after scoring on the first drive. Cleveland's offense put together its best game of the preseason, tallying 395 total yards and scoring 33 points, but it was not enough to keep up with the explosive performance Seattle displayed.

Key moments

Winston and several Browns starters played just the two drives of the game. Winston went 6-for-9 passing for 63 yards and drove the Browns to the Seattle 12-yard line on his second drive but missed WR Jamari Thrash in the end zone on fourth down.

The Seahawks quickly found the end zone, taking just five plays to drive 62 yards on the following drive. After connecting twice with WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, QB Geno Smith threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to WR D.K. Metcalf with CB Justin Hardee Sr. in coverage.

Seattle took out their starters after the first drive and went three-and-out after the turnover on downs. DE Ogbo Okoronkwo brought down QB Sam Howell as he ran out of bounds, recording his first sack of the preseason.

Thompson-Robinson took over at quarterback on Cleveland's third drive, displaying his connection with Thrash to set up a 37-yard field goal from K Dustin Hopkins, who made his preseason debut.

The Seahawks quickly answered, with RB Kenny McIntosh finding a hole in the defensive line and breaking a tackle from S Chase Williams on his way to the end zone for a 56-yard touchdown run.

Thompson-Robinson showed off his arm on the following drive, slinging a 46-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Thrash to bring Cleveland. K Lucas Havrisik took over for kicking duties, hitting the extra point attempt.

Seattle finished the drive with a 58-yard field goal after Mohamoud Diabate sacked Sam Howell to force a long fourth down.

The Seahawks added their third touchdown of the half on a long punt return from WR D'Wayne Eskridge. Eskridge caught the 42-yard punt, made CB Faion Hicks miss and raced to the end zone for the score.

Thompson-Robinson went 3-for-5 on his final drive of the half, setting the Browns up for a 49-yard field goal to cut their deficit to 11 points at halftime.

QB Tyler Huntley went three-and-out on his first drive of the game, but the Browns defense set the quarterback up well after stuffing RB Kobe Lewis on fourth down to force a turnover on downs. RB Jacob Saylors set the tone on the first play with a 15-yard run – Cleveland's longest of the preseason. Huntley finished the drive with a bullet pass to WR James Proche II for a touchdown.

The scoring continued, as Huntley found WR Michael Woods II for a 12-yard touchdown to start the fourth quarter. On the Browns' two-point attempt, Huntley was brought down for a sack. The Browns ended the game on a high note, with Huntley once again hitting Woods II for the pair's second touchdown connection of the game. Woods II made an impressive catch over CB Dee Williams and kept both feet in bounds to secure the touchdown.

Players of the Game:

QB Tyler Huntley: Huntley played the entire second half, and posted a 133.7 quarterback rating, throwing for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Three of Huntley's five drives resulted in touchdowns.

QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Thompson-Robinson had a strong showing Saturday night, completing 11 of his 20 passing attempts for 115 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown pass was the longest play of the Browns preseason, a 46-yard bomb to Thrash.

WR Jamari Thrash: Thrash made several big plays this preseason and Saturday was no exception. The Browns receiver led the team in receiving yards with 73 on just four receptions. On his touchdown, he beat the Seattle secondary by several steps, catching the ball over his shoulder as he sprinted to the end zone.
