The Browns made an addition to their QB room by drafting Dillon Gabriel from Oregon at pick No. 94 in the NFL Draft.
Here are five things to know about Cleveland's newest pass thrower.
He made the most of one year at Oregon
Gabriel spent time at three different programs throughout his college career and broke through in a big way in his final year at Oregon. He spent just one year in Eugene, but he made it count by completing 72.9 percent of passes for 3,857 yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. That led him to become a first-team All-American, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-Big Ten honoree.
"We spent a lot of time with Dillon throughout this process," Browns Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry said. "We brought him in right after the combine and did the private visit and workouts out in Eugene. Decorated college career, and very accurate and very poised. We just thought he had a really well-rounded game."
He has more college experience than any QB—literally
Gabriel played in 64 total college games across a six-year college career and started 63 of them, which is the highest total of any QB in FBS history. His journey started in 2019 at UCF, where he was a starter for three seasons. After an injury sidelined him for most of 2021, he transferred to Oklahoma, where he started for two more years before transferring again to Oregon. Gabriel was granted a sixth college season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has Hawaiian roots that led to an NFL mentor
Gabriel was raised in Mililani, Hawaii, and his father is Hawaii's all-time leading passer. Because of his Hawaiian heritage, Gabriel grew up a big fan of Commanders QB and Oregon alum Marcus Mariota, who has mentored him throughout his career. Gabriel also wore No. 8 with the Ducks, which was the same number as Mariota when he was a Heisman Trophy winner in 2014.
He used NIL for a charitable cause
Gabriel has often donated his NIL earnings for charitable causes, including a large portion to high schools in the community he grew up in. His donation helped them purchase new jerseys and other equipment.
He is the third offseason addition to the revamped QB room
Gabriel joins Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett as offseason additions to a revamped Browns quarterback room. Cleveland was widely expected to dip into the quarterback draft class, and they made Gabriel the fifth quarterback to go off the board.
The Browns are expected to hold a quarterback competition throughout the rest of the offseason.
