Biography
- Bobby Johnson joined the Browns as assistant offensive line coach in 2026. He brings over 29 years of coaching experience, including 16 years at the NFL level.
- Before coming to Cleveland, Johnson spent two seasons with the Washington Commanders as the offensive line coach. In 2024, the offensive line helped guide the offense to rush for 2,619 yards and 154.1 yards per game, which ranked third in the league.
- Johnson joined the Commanders after serving as the offensive line coach for the New York Giants for two seasons (2022-23). In his two seasons with the Giants, the offense ranked ninth in the league in rushing yards per game (129.2) and during the 2022 season the offensive line helped pave the way for RB Saquon Barkley's career-high 1,312 rushing yards.
- Prior to joining the Giants, Johnson spent three seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 2019-21. During his time with the Bills, the offense finished second (2020) and third (2021) in points per game and T Dion Dawkins earned Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career in 2021.
- In 2018, Johnson served as the assistant offensive line coach for the Indianapolis Colts and from 2015-17, he was the tight ends coach for the Oakland Raiders. He served one year as the tight ends coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars and two years as the assistant offensive line coach with the Buffalo Bills from 2010-11.
- He made stops at Indiana University (2005-09) where he developed two NFL lineman, Rodger Saffold and James Brewer, and at Miami (Ohio) (1999-04) where he helped the team to a 13-1 season and a MAC championship in 2003.
- Johnson began his coaching career at the University of Akron as a graduate assistant in 1995 and was promoted to defensive line coach in 1997.
- Native of Akron, Ohio, Johnson attended Miami (Ohio) where he played offensive tackle and graduated with a degree in health and appraisal and sports organization.
- He and his wife, Kristen, have two daughters, Maddie and Livvie.
