- Joined the Browns in 2023, bringing 26 years of coaching experience on the professional and collegiate level in addition to six seasons as an NFL player. Member of San Francisco's Super Bowl XXIX winning team.

- As offensive coordinator with the Raiders, guided the offense to an NFL best 373 yards per game and 26.0 points per game in 2016.
- During his three seasons (2011-13) as offensive coordinator with the Vikings, oversaw an offense that led the NFL in rushing with 146.5 yards per game and RB Adrian Peterson leading the league with 4,333 rushing yards during that span. Peterson was named the NFL MVP in 2012.
- As assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach with the Falcons in 2010, QB Michael Vick became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.
- Oversaw the development of 2003 first round pick QB Byron Leftwhich as coordinator with the Jaguars. That season, RB Fred Taylor rushed for a career-high and Jaguars record 1,572 yards.
- Spent two seasons (2001-02) as offensive coordinator at Virginia, where he worked with QB Matt Schaub, who was named the ACC Players of the Year and set numerous team and conference records.
- The Panthers finished second in the NFL in passing yards, while serving as quarterbacks coach in 1999.
- First coaching experience came in 1997 as quarterbacks coach with the Raiders. QB Jeff George led the NFL with 3,919 passing yards.
- Selected by Dallas in the fourth round of the 1991 draft. Spent six seasons in the NFL with the 49ers (1991-94) and Broncos (1995-96). Appeared in 12 career games with one start, while serving as the backup to Pro Football Hall of Fame QBs Joe Montana, Steve Young and John Elway.
- Set University of Oregon school records for passing yards and total offense. Inducted into the Oregon Hall of Fame in 2000. Earned degree in finance & accounting.
- Native of Gran Junction, Colo., where he was named Colorado High School Athlete of the Year as a senior in 1985 at Grand Junction High School. Inducted as a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
