Undefeated Heavyweights Meet as Hudson Hosts Brunswick in the Game of the Week

Pregame Notes:

Brunswick (3-0) is led by head coach Luke Beal. Beal, now in his 5th season as head coach, is coming off of a 6-5 season that ended in the first round of the OHSAA Division I state playoffs.

Hudson (3-0) is led by 4th year head coach Ron Wright. After finishing the regular season with a 9-1 record and leading Hudson to the second round of the Division I state playoffs, Hudson's Ron Wright was named the 2013 Cleveland Browns High School Coach of the Year.

Both teams are coming off of dominate* *wins and have been impressive on offense.

Brunswick averages 42 points a game and 16 points against.

Hudson averages 45 points a game and 10 points against. At first glance these numbers are comparable. It's important to note, 3 of the 30 total points Hudson has given up, has come in the first half.

Brunswick, coming off a 41-27 victory over Austintown-Fitch, is led by Sr. QB Steven Ficyk. On the season, Ficyk is 31-of-44 passing for 574 yards, 8 TDs and 0 INTs. Ficyk's favorite target is Jr. WR Gary Clift Jr. The two have connected for 4 TD receptions. When Ficyk isn't dropping back to throw, he's handing the ball off to Sr. RB Mike Bekeny. Bekeny averages 9.3 yards per carry and has found the endzone for 5 TDs this season. Bekeny is led by Sr. TE/FB Ethan Engelke. The 6' 3" Engelke is an outstanding lead blocker, who also has the ability to lineup at TE. Engelke has 3 rushing TDs on the season and is second on the team in receptions with 8 catches.

Hudson is coming off a 48-14 win over Brecksville-Broadview Heights. Hudson is led by Sr. QB Mitchell Guadagni. Guadagni has rushed for 157 yards (leads team) and 2 TDs, and is 29-of-49 passing for 565 yards, 9 TDs and 2 INTs. Guadagni's favorite targets are 6' 2" Sr. WR Colton Whited and 6' 3" Sr. WR Reid Robinson. On the season, Robinson has 13 catches for 231 yards receiving and 4 TDs, and Whited has 9 catches, 195 yards receiving and 5 TDs.
