The Browns wrapped up their stay at The Greenbrier with one final practice

TC Observsations Day 7

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va – Under the partly sunny skies at The Greenbrier, the Browns took to the practice field for one final morning practice.

They practiced in shells for the final day but held another spirited practice as they continued to work.

"Good practice out there to finish off our stay here," head coach Kevin Stefanski said. "Extremely appreciative of the people here at the Greenbrier. The people in West Virginia that take such good care of us. It's a first-class operation and I know our coaches, our staff and our players are extremely grateful to that group. But good practice."

Here are the top observations from the final practice at The Greenbrier.

Deshaun Watson rests

After throwing in the first six practices throughout training camp, QB Deshaun Watson did not throw in drills throughout the final practice. However, he went through the mental reps of each drill behind the rest of the quarterback room in each of the drills.

Even though he wasn't actively throwing, Watson continued to stay present in the huddles. Stefanski said his leadership, even on his off days, plays an important factor for the quarterback room and the offense as a whole.

The quarterbacks also spent time working on their throws into the pocket shuttle. Watson participated in the drill of his footwork moving around the practice bags, but only went through the mental rep of throwing the ball.

11-on-11 period

While Watson did not throw, QB Jameis Winston stepped in – along with QB Tyler Huntley and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson – to take the reps. The Browns ran an 11-on-11 period, which Winston connected with RB Pierre Strong Jr. down the sidleline, as well as handoffs to RB John Kelly Jr. and RB Aidan Robbins, who each found spots in the defense to break through and run down the field.

Huntley connected with TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden for a completion on the sideline, and Mitchell-Paden broke past the defender to run down the sideline.

Thompson-Robinson ended the 11-on-11 period with a deep pass to WR Matt Landers in the end zone for the touchdown. Landers was tightly covered by CB Dyshawn Gales.

7-on-7 red zone drill

The offense found a level of success in the red zone period, as Huntley connected with WR David Bell in the end zone for a touchdown. He also found Strong for a short pass and Strong weaved his way through defenders to the end zone. Thompson-Robinson found WR Ahmarean Brown in the back of the end zone for a completion, as well as connected with Ford who worked his way around defenders into the end zone.

However, the defense also came up with some solid plays in during the red zone work, starting with an early interception by CB Denzel Ward in the end zone. On another pass intended for WR Amari Cooper, CB Martin Emerson Jr. was tight in coverage and broke up the pass. DB Chris Edmonds also came up with an interception.

Two-minute drills

The Browns wrapped up their final practice with some work in two-minute drills, with the offense working their way down the field. Winston led his group to a touchdown on a pass intended for WR David Bell, who dove for the ball and caught it in the end zone.
