Browns cornerback Terrance Mitchell will miss significant time after having surgery Monday morning to repair a broken wrist, coach Hue Jackson said.
Mitchell suffered the injury in the first half of Sunday's 45-42 overtime loss to the Raiders and had to be carted off the field.
"That's a tough loss because I truly believe he was playing well," Jackson said. "He was one of the guys that was creating turnovers in our secondary."
While the loss is a significant one for a Cleveland defense that has collected 13 turnovers in four games, Jackson said there's a chance Mitchell could return at some point this season.
"It's gonna be some time, but I don't think it's season-ending," he said.
Mitchell, who signed with the Browns in free agency, has an interception and two forced fumbles.
Citing a "next man up" mentality, Jackson said Cleveland will lean on cornerbacks T.J. Carrie and E.J. Gaines to fill the void.
