Many words were said at the podium and inside the Browns locker room after Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Jets.
These were the most important.
"Our players have worked extremely hard. Like I told them, this is us. It has nothing to do with anyone else. We have to play better, finish and get better, and it is hard, but we are going to stay after it. It is halfway through the season. We are 0-8. We own the record, and we have to play better. "It is hard to explain the feelings that you have after a loss, especially one in this context as a quarterback and with the way I feel like I played in the second half. It is 0-8, you know? It stinks. Then to know that you have a hand in not being able to get some of those wins, it crushes you. You know what? The thing about this group that has been so impressive –I know we will and Coach Jackson will lead the charges – we will bounce back. We will be at work Monday ready to go. "When you have a close game in the second half, you have to be able to make the plays you have to. Typically it comes down to a handful of plays. You got to make those plays. "It's a position that you don't want to be in. We have to deal with it. There is no time to cry and complain about it. Now, we just have to see if we can go on a run and hopefully get a snowball effect after we get a win. Right now, my goal is to go 8-8, but we have to get back to work." -- LB Christian Kirksey
"They just made good adjustments. I don't think they did anything spectacular, but (Ryan Fitzpatrick) just hit his throws. Whether it was a 5-yard pass or it was over our shoulders, they just made adjustments. We have to be able to make adjustments, too." -- DB Jamar Taylor
"I just got to give them a credit. They're a good team and they came out fighting. We just didn't capitalize the way we should have." -- RB Isaiah Crowell
"There are no more young guys. We have a lot of rookies playing out there, but everybody has to make plays. Especially the veterans, we have to be able to stand up in the second half and make plays. We have to show the guys what it takes to win. It's on us, but at the same time, everyone has to grow up." -- DB Joe Haden
"We have to do it. It is no magic. Our players, our staff, coaches and the team, we have to go do it. We have to finish it. We have to get this monkey off our back. It is just that simple. You said it, we have had chances. We have to finish the game. Those plays that I'm talking about in the second half that we did not make, some of the things you guys mentioned, tackling, this and that, we have to fix that because if you don't, that is what happens." -- Jackson
