Former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr
Derek Carr was happy.
How the Cleveland Browns felt about the workout they staged with him Monday at Fresno State remains to be seen.
The Browns aren't offering any insights into the details or takeaways from their Sunday night dinner with Carr or the session they conducted with him on the field the next day.
However, Carr had plenty to say about it during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio Monday night.
"Everything went great," he said. "It went exactly how we wanted it to."
According to Carr, the Browns sent a full contingent of evaluators in general manager Ray Farmer, coach Mike Pettine, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, and quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.
Carr said Shanahan ran the workout, scripting all of the throws, and seemed intent on seeing how the quarterback would perform while dealing with fatigue.
"They really want to tire you out," Carr said. "When you're doing the individual drills, they really try and tire you out, see how you're feeling, really grind you a little bit and then you go into throwing routes. You throw routes while you're tired, like a football game.
"And then, after the routes, you do some bootlegs. They want to see how you move on the run when you're tired. Then we do some reads that they have.
"And then you say, do you want to see anything else? We'll show you anything you want to see to make you feel comfortable. We want every team to feel like they got to see everything they wanted when they leave Fresno. So it was great. It was a great experience."
Carr said he appreciates being tested in "many different ways," because of the importance of the position he plays.
"I think they should, especially when you're looking to draft a franchise quarterback," he said. "You should take every precaution.
"It was good to be able to go to dinner with (the Browns' representatives Sunday) and then work for them," Carr said. "And now, of course, we just wait until May and see how they're feeling."
