This summer during Cleveland Browns Training Camp, fans had the opportunity to take the First and Ten pledge and join the movement by choosing to volunteer and help their communities. Those who are currently giving back had a chance to share their stories of how they contribute to the community. One particular individual was so selfless in his pledge that he included his students and nominated them to be our First and Ten Coin Toss Captain.
While the youth are doing great work, Mr. Garcia's ability to rally them up to come in before and stay after school to work on these projects, warranted some form of recognition. To thank Mr. Garcia for sharing his story and helping to make his school and community a better place, he was awarded the honor of being the First and Ten Coin Toss Captain.
Adam is a 7th grade math teacher and he volunteers as a staff advisor for the Builder's Club. His work with the youth in this capacity, includes his support of their ideas and the development of their servant-leadership skills. Under his guidance the students have coordinated disaster relief efforts, hosted clothing drives for the less fortunate, supported children in foster care and volunteered at elderly homes. Mr. Garcia is not only giving of his time, but he is instilling volunteerism in the minds and hearts of his students.
His top volunteer students were also invited to the game to cheer him on and show their support.
It's amazing how lives can be changed and inspired through small acts of kindness and a willingness to support youth, education and the future generations who will impact the world.
Mr. Garcia was so ecstatic about being the First and Ten Coin Toss Captain because he's a huge Browns fan who just loves doing good.
As a teacher it's his responsibility to make sure the children receive an education, but he went above and beyond by becoming an advisor of the Builder's Club which champions civic service and volunteerism.
The students have brainstormed how they will give back to their communities and have done so consistently by creating handmade blankets and bags filled with hygiene products, games, and stuffed animals for students newly placed in foster care at Ohio Guide Stone.
They've also raked leaves for the elderly in Fairview Park during the fall.
After Hurricane Harvey, students organized a book drive to benefit a middle school language arts teacher in Houston who lost her classroom. This book drive raised over 100 new books that were shipped to the teacher and her student, which the Builder's club really connected with.
During the holiday season, his Giving Tree raked in hundreds of brand new gloves, socks, and hats that we donated to local churches and food shelters.
His students also ran a supply drive that raised hundreds of dollars for GiGi's Playhouse in Lakewood. GiGi's is a center that supports and empowers individuals with down syndrome. Students donated art supplies, cleaning products, and literature and dropped these products off during spring break.
In the spring, these students donated time at the Fairview Cemetery sprucing up grave stones before Memorial Day.
These students are now dedicated and passionate about helping others thanks to their fearless advisor Mr. Garcia! Thank you for giving back to your community and helping others do the same! #give10

The Browns are dedicated to #give10 through the team's First and Ten initiative. Launched in June 2014, the Cleveland Browns First and Ten campaign is the team's community program, established to inspire fans to volunteer in and help their communities throughout the world by volunteering for 10 hours each year. Since its inception, Browns fans have committed to volunteering more than 1.5 million hours to impact their communities by pledging to #give10. Through First and Ten, the Browns are the only NFL club to promote a long-term volunteering program that unifies the team and its entire fan base, with the goal of impacting every individual's city across the globe, as well as the franchise's local community. All Browns fans are encouraged to join the volunteering effort by signing the First and Ten pledge on the team's website and by sharing their stories with #give10
