The Browns selected Louisville defensive back Charles Gaines in Saturday's sixth round with the 189th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Gaines, a two-year starter at cornerback out of Miami, Florida, broke up a team-high nine passes in 2014 while adding two interceptions and 36 tackles.
Gaines was initially recruited to play wide receiver and did just that during his redshirt freshman season. He caught 11 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown in 2012 before making the shift to defense.
Gaines led Louisville with five interceptions in 2013 and scored touchdowns on a kick return, interception return and blocked punt.
