Veteran wide receiver Nate Burleson
The Cleveland Browns continue to stockpile proven veteran players to bolster their roster.
On Sunday, the team announced they have agreed to terms with wide receiver Nate Burleson.
Burleson, 32, has been a productive target for the Minnesota Vikings (2003-2005), the Seattle Seahawks (2006-2009), and most recently the Detroit Lions (2010-2013). The 6-foot, 198-pound Burleson is ranked 23rd on the NFL’s active list in receiving, with 5,630 yards.
Burleson's skills as a possession receiver and 11-year NFL pedigree will assist the young Browns' receiving corps.
Burleson joins veterans Karlos Dansby and Donte Whitner as key veterans added by the busy Browns front office.
"Like we've said all along, improving the competition at each position and adding pillars to the roster are important to us," Browns general manager Ray Farmer said. "We want guys that embody the needed traits, players who are passionate, tough, relentless, productive, instinctive and competitive -- all of which symbolize what it means to play like a Brown. Nate has competed to earn his opportunities and we're excited to have him join the Browns."
