*CLEVELAND — *The Browns rallied past the Saints, 20-14, Thursday night in their preseason opener.
We're breaking it down by the numbers.
184 — In his NFL debut, rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer helped Cleveland surge late with several nice throws, including a 45-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Payton with under two minutes to play. Kizer finished with 184 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-18 attempts.
313 — To be certain, the Browns offense sputtered at times Thursday night and were outgained by New Orleans, 320-313.
0 — The Brows committed zero turnovers and forced the Saints into two takeaways.
5 — Rookie linebacker Kenneth Olugbode led the Browns with five tackles. Olugbode, an undrafted free agent, had 264 tackles in four seasons at Colorado.
4 — Trevon Coley continued an unexpectedly impressive training camp, recording four tackles, a sack and strip of backup quarterback Garrett Grayson in the second quarter. Coley, an undrafted free agent who joined the team's practice squad last year, is currently working with the second-team defense.
70 — Wide receiver Richard Mullaney caught two passes for 70 yards Thursday night, including a 53-yard haul that almost went for a touchdown.
6 — Rookie running back Matthew Dayes had six touches (three runs, three catches) and scored a one-yard touchdown to give the Browns their first lead of the night. Dayes, the former N.C. State standout and second-to-last pick in the NFL Draft, has looked impressive since camp opened.
12 — Cleveland committed 12 penalties, something Jackson lamented in his postgame news conference as being the difference between winning and losing in the regular season.
