Browns select NC State RB Matthew Dayes with 252nd pick in 2017 NFL Draft

The Browns on Saturday selected North Carolina State Matthew Dayes in the seventh round with the 252nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Dayes is the 10th and final Brown selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, joining first-rounders DE Myles Garrett, S Jabrill Peppers and TE David Njoku, second-rounder QB DeShone Kizer, third-round pick DT Larry Ogunjobi, fourth-round DB Howard Wilson, fifth-round OL Roderick Johnson, sixth-round DT Caleb Brantley and seventh-round K Zane Gonzalez.

Dayes was a four-year player for the Wolfpack and posted his best season as a senior. He rushed for 1,166 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 32 receptions for 267 yards. Through nine games during his junior season, Dayes led the nation with 12 rushing touchdowns but had that year short-circuited by a toe injury.

For his career, Dayes posted 2,856 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns. He participated in the 2017 Senior Bowl, where the Browns served as coaches for the South team.
