The Browns selected Louisiana defensive back Simeon Thomas with the 188th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Thomas is the ninth and final player to be drafted by Cleveland, joining Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield (No. 1), Ohio State CB Denzel Ward (No. 4), Nevada OL Austin Corbett (No. 33), Georgia RB Nick Chubb, Miami DE Chad Thomas (No. 67), Florida WR Antonio Callaway (No. 105), Memphis LB Genard Avery (No. 150) and Texas A&M WR Damion Ratley (No. 175).
Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 197-pound Miami native, enrolled at Louisiana in 2013 and endured multiple, lengthy absences because of academic issues. His most productive year was in 2016, when he appeared in 13 games with seven starts. This past season, he played in nine games, recording 42 tackles and 12 pass breakups.
Thomas is the second defensive back selected by the Browns in this year's draft, joining Ward, a first-round selection. Cleveland added four defensive backs last month via trades and free agency.
