Browns player quotes - 10/27

Included below are select quotes from interviews with the following Browns players during today's media availability:

  • WR Corey Coleman
  • OL John Greco
  • WR Terrelle Pryor Sr.

WR Corey Coleman:

On if it will be one more week until he returns to full speed:

"We have to talk to the trainers. I believe so, but we have to see what the doctors say and the trainers."

On how his hand is feeling:

"It feels good. Looked at X-rays a while ago. It was just fine so it is good news."

On QB Josh McCown and what he learned about him from the game Week 2 against the Ravens:

"He is a great leader. He is a soldier. I am really close with him, one of the closest dudes I am close with on the team. He is an older guy, but he is a great leader and mentor, and he is a hell of a football player too."

On how frustrating it has been to not be able to play:

"It was really, really tough at the beginning. Everything happens for a reason, and I think it could always be worse. I just have to roll with the punches. It has been a long time, but I am finally getting healthy and I will be back on the field soon. I am back there on the practice field, and it feels amazing being out there with the guys, just the amount of energy they have and me actually being able to go through drills with them and stuff. Just don't take anything for granted."

On seeing rookies like WR Ricardo Louis and WR Rashard Higgins getting a lot of playing time and if that makes him even more anxious to get back on the field:

"I am excited for them. They stepped up and they got drafted here, too, so they deserve the right to play. They have done a great job, everything that (senior offensive assistant) Coach (Al) Saunders and (Head) Coach Hue (Jackson) have asked them to do. They are doing a great job so I am happy they got to come in and play. It excites me because I came off a successful game like you said for myself and I get hurt so it is kind of tough, but I have been working really, really, really hard staying in shape, going through all the plays and making sure I am mentally there. Even though I can't catch yet, making sure my body is still on point so when I come back, I will not miss a beat."

OL John Greco:

On if the OL is 'bracing for another change' this weekend:

"I am going into this game thinking I am going to play right guard. If I have to move, I move. As far as the other guys, it is uncertain. They are rolling guys in and out each week. We have to be ready no matter who is in there, whatever combination of the five we have in we have to be able to play. That is kind of our mindset right now."

On how OL Cameron Erving has been this week:

"He has been great. He shook off his illness, and I think he is back and ready to roll and feeling good."

WR Terrelle Pryor Sr.:

On the week of practice:

"For me personally, it is going good, feeling healthy. I have been limited the past two days and I'm still fighting. It is what it is. There is nothing to hide. I was dealing with a hamstring injury and those things linger, and sometimes, they do not go away as fast or as much as you want. I just continue to keep following the training staff's guide and keep on practicing smart so I can give myself the best chance to go out and help the team on Sunday. That is what it is all about."

On QB Josh McCown's leadership and command of the offense if he starts on Sunday:

"I think you guys all know that. You guys saw his press conference. I don't really need to hit on that anymore, but just with like all the other guys we have had, I am real excited. I am excited to play with Josh. He is a veteran. He is very savvy, smart, a team leader. I know he will play his heart out so I will give him my all when I am out there, and I am looking forward to it. I am excited about it."

On Jets WR Brandon Marshall complimenting Pryor and mentioning their meeting yesterday and if he watches film of Marshall:

"Absolutely. Brandon Marshall, he is a bad dude. He is real good. I remember that. I remember talking to him and stopping and talking to him for five minutes or so in the hallway, and he was just pitching me advice just to keep going. It would be a dream to play with him one day. Maybe we will have to get him over here (laughter)."
