The Browns have named St. Ignatius Head Football Coach Chuck Kyle youth football advisor, a recently created position that will further incorporate the renowned coach's experience and expertise into the team's long-standing dedication to youth and high school football in Ohio.
Kyle, who will remain on the St. Ignatius faculty and continue to lead the Wildcats football team and students, will expand his involvement with the Browns' youth and high school football initiatives as part of the team's mission to provide opportunities for young athletes to play football and enhance safety for all participants and coaches.
Director of community relations Jenner Tekancic will welcome Kyle into his new role during tomorrow's 2 p.m. groundbreaking event at Cleveland Metropolitan School District's Roye Kidd Field.
"We are fortunate to add a Hall of Fame-caliber coach and individual in Chuck Kyle, who is one of Ohio's most respected coaches due to his fervent commitment to his players, coaches and improving the game, as much as his success on the field," said Dee and Jimmy Haslam. "Coach Kyle's expertise, connections and reputation across the country will offer the Browns special insight and opportunities as we strive to advance youth and high school football and enhance player safety throughout the game."

In addition to coaching at many Browns youth and high school football clinics and leading multiple Moms Clinics at the team's Berea facility, Kyle serves as a member of the National USA Football Advisory Committee and a member of USA Football Heads Up Football's inaugural class of Master Trainers.
Recently recognized as a member of the National Federation of State High School Association Hall of Fame Class of 2016, Kyle became head coach at St. Ignatius in 1983 and has led his alma mater to a 321-83-1 record (.794 winning percentage), three national championships, an Ohio-best 11 state football championships and a state-record 22 consecutive playoff appearances from 1988-2009. He was selected as USA Today's High School Coach of the year in 1989 and 1993 and has been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Kyle also served as the head coach of the USA team that claimed the International Federation of American Football's 2009 Junior World Championship in Canton, Ohio.
As a football letterman at John Carroll University, Kyle joined the Wildcats program as an assistant coach in 1972 while enrolled as an English major at JCU. In addition to his duties as head football coach, Kyle guides St. Ignatius students as an English teacher and earned the Rossing Award for Excellence in teaching in 1987. Kyle also has served as head varsity track and field coach for 44 years.
Kyle and his wife, Patricia, an art teacher at St. Ignatius, have four children: Maureen, Anne, Bridget, and Dan.
On May 9, Browns Owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam committed to installing high-quality synthetic turf at five CMSD fields during the next two years to further support the city and youth and high school football in the region. Roye Kidd Field and James F. Rhodes Field will be completed for the start of the 2016 high school football season, while John Adams Field and John Marshall Field will be renovated in 2017. The timeline for Bump Taylor Field, located at Patrick Henry School, is being finalized.
The Cleveland Browns are committed to assisting the development, safety and growth of youth and high school football throughout Northeast Ohio with year-round programming for players, coaches, officials and parents. Through camps, clinics and other initiatives, the Browns' goal is to promote healthy, social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of youth by enhancing opportunities for youth football participation and education.
