Browns Give Back Summer Volunteer Blitz: By the Numbers

The Browns celebrated the establishment of Browns Give Back, the club's community platform that focuses on a commitment to education and youth football while engaging the community through its signature First and Ten volunteering campaign.

So on Tuesday, the team hosted the first-ever Browns Summer Volunteer Blitz that will emphasize the three core areas of giving back to Northeast Ohio.

More than 120 Browns staff members representing departments across the organization dedicated their typical workday to projects aimed at improving Cleveland, setting aside their normal duties to focus on the important responsibility of making a significant impact in the community.

The event also recognizes the third anniversary of the First and Ten campaign, through which the Browns and Browns fans have pledged nearly 1.5 million hours of volunteering in the local community since its creation in June 2014. 

Here's a breakdown by the numbers:

1 – Browns Give Back Summer Volunteer Blitz today, highlighted by 129 Browns staff volunteers combining for 624 hours of volunteering in one day

2 – CMSD schools (John Adams and John Marshall) receiving high-quality synthetic turf in 2017 to complete the 5 CMSD field commitment (Roye Kidd Stadium, James F. Rhodes Stadium and Bump Taylor Stadium) by Dee and Jimmy Haslam in 2016

3 – Year-round core areas of impact for Browns Give Back – 1) education, 2) youth football and 3) the First and Ten volunteering campaign

4 – Beginning the fourth year of the First and Ten volunteering movement, which in its first three years helped inspire nearly 1.5 million hours of volunteering by the Browns and Browns fans to impact communities

5 – Number of Northeast Ohio high schools hosting Sparkle All-Inclusive Cheerleading Teams, which provides opportunities for students with disabilities to join an inclusive cheerleading team with their peers, made possible through funding by the Browns

6 – June 6, 2017, date of the Browns' first-ever Browns Summer Volunteer Blitz, a celebration of Browns Give Back and the team's efforts to positively impact Northeast Ohio

7 – Number of seasons for the Cleveland Browns Adapted Football League, which provides children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in an organized, competitive and developmental sport with the Achievement Centers for Children

10 – Hours of volunteering pledged by each person who decided to #give10 and join the First and Ten movement

16 – Athletic benches constructed by Browns volunteers this morning for athletes and coaches at CMSD schools, as well as individuals, coaches and programs in the local community

21 – Members of the Browns 2017 Rookie Class who volunteered during the John Marshall School field groundbreaking

194 – Number of items – 100 book shelves, 50 rocking chairs and 44 high-top tables constructed by Browns staff today for CMSD to encourage attendance and support the "Get 2 School, You Can Make It!" campaign

224 – Total helmets prepared and decaled during the Summer Blitz for distribution to Cleveland MUNY football and CMSD

300 – Feet of banners created by Browns volunteers this morning to encourage and celebrate the more than 120 athletes who are participating in the Cleveland Browns Adapted Football League this summer

500 – "Special Teams Packages" prepared this morning by Browns staff for CMSD students to help eliminate barriers that may keep them from attending school as an extension of the "Get 2 School, You Can Make It!" attendance campaign
