The Browns wrapped up a busy third round Friday by selecting USC quarterback Cody Kessler with the No. 93 pick.
The Browns acquired the pick from the Panthers in a trade of picks executed earlier in the round.
Kessler is the fifth player to be selected by the Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft. He joins Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman (No. 15), Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah (No. 32), Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib (No. 65) and Auburn offensive tackle Shon Coleman (No. 76) as the newest Brown.
Kessler was a three-year starter at USC, throwing for 10,339 yards and 88 touchdowns compared to 19 interceptions.
The Browns wrapped up a busy third round Friday by selecting USC quarterback Cody Kessler with the No. 93 pick.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Kessler was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2014 and 2015 and owns the school's career record for completion percentage at 67.5 percent. That, of course, is a list that includes former USC QBs like Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley.
Kessler joins a Browns quarterback room that includes Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw.
Cleveland has eight picks in Saturday's final four rounds of the draft, starting with the first two (99 and 100) in the fourth round.
