The Browns selected Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib at No. 65 with their first of three picks in Friday's third round.
The pick was the Browns' third of 12 picks in the 2016 NFL Draft. Nassib joins Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman (No. 15 overall) and Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah (No. 32) as the newest Brown.
Nassib said he met with Cleveland "five to seven times" over the past three months. So when the Browns called, it wasn't a total surprise.
"I talked to (Head) Coach (Hue) Jackson, and he told me that I needed to bring the same intensity and the same dedication that I had at Penn State," Nassib said.
"I told him I would bring that every single day."
After serving as a role player in his first two seasons at Penn State, Nassib emerged as of the Big Ten's premier defensive ends, notching 15.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss in 10 games last year.
"There are a lot of things. Such a great team, such great coaches and I just attribute it all to hard work and dedication," Nassib said. "I can't wait to continue to improve and continue to win and succeed in Cleveland."
Nassib added: "We had an amazing defensive line. I couldn't have done it without them. We had an amazing coaching staff. There isn't just one thing. There are so many things that helped me succeed this year. I'm just so happy."
Nassib was named the 2015 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, the Vince Lombardi Award winner, Ronnie Lott Trophy winner and a consensus All-American.
Nassib was also recognized for his work off the field, winning the 2015 Lott IMPACT (Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity) Trophy.
Tight end Gary Barnidge, the Browns' 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient, announced the pick.
The Browns have two more picks in the third round (Nos. 76 and 77).
