The Browns selected Colorado State wide receiver Rashard Higgins on Saturday with their first of two fifth-round compensatory picks.
Higgins (No. 172) is the 12th player to be selected by the Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft. He joins Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman (No. 15), Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah (No. 32), Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib (No. 65), Auburn offensive tackle Shon Coleman (No. 76) and USC quarterback Cody Kessler (No. 93), Wisconsin linebacker Joe Schobert (No. 99), Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis (No. 114), TCU defensive back Derrick Kindred (No. 129), Princeton tight end Seth DeValve (No. 138), UCLA wide receiver Jordan Payton (No. 154) and Baylor offensive tackle Spencer Drango as the newest Brown.
Higgins totaled 3,648 yards and 31 touchdowns in three seasons at Colorado State. Higgins was among one of the nation's most productive receivers in 2014, catching 96 passes for 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns.
He was named a consensus All-American and Biletnikoff Award finalist for his efforts that year.
Higgins is Colorado State's all-time leader in receptions (239), receiving yards (3,649) and touchdowns (31).
Higgins, a 6-foot-1, 196-pounder, hails from Mesquite, Texas.
