OAKLAND — The Browns could be without one of their top defenders for the remainder of the year.
Cornerback Terrance Mitchell suffered a broken forearm that could end his season, coach Hue Jackson said following Sunday's 45-42 overtime loss to the Raiders.
Mitchell sustained the injury in the first half and was carted off the field. He did not return.
Mitchell, who signed with Cleveland in free agency this past spring, had recently emerged as a playmaker for the Browns with an interception and two forced fumbles in four games.
Without him, the Browns will lean on rookie cornerback Denzel Ward, T.J. Carrie and veteran E.J. Gaines, who recorded his first interception of the season when he replaced Mitchell.
