The Browns could be without starting cornerback E.J. Gaines this weekend in Tampa.
Gaines did not practice Thursday after being placed in the league's concussion protocol, and his status for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers is in jeopardy.
Gaines, who replaced the injured Terrance Mitchell earlier this month, has an interception and three pass breakups in five games, including two starts.
Gaines, a five-year veteran with 38 starts, signed with the Browns in free agency this past spring. He missed the preseason with a knee sprain.
If he can't go, the Browns likely will lean on T.J. Carrie (16 starts with Oakland in 2017) and third-year defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun to fill the void opposite of rookie Denzel Ward.
