Browns awarded OL Jonathan Cooper via waivers

The Cleveland Browns on Monday were awarded OL Jonathan Cooper after being claimed off waivers from New England. The team also placed OL Austin Reiter on injured reserve (knee) and waived OL Anthony Fabiano.

Cooper is a 6-2, 302-pound fourth year offensive linemen that most recently spent the first four weeks of the season with the Patriots. Cooper, acquired by New England via a trade with the Arizona Cardinals in March 2016, was inactive for the first four games before being waived on October 8, 2016. Originally a first-round draft pick (seventh overall) of the Cardinals in 2013, Cooper played in 24 games for Arizona, making two starts at LG in 2014 and nine starts at RG in 2015. A native of Wilmington, N.C., he started 48 career games at University of North Carolina and was a consensus All-America First-Team selection as a senior in 2012. Cooper attended John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, N.C.
