Since 1985, Marine Corps veteran and 2024 Browns Fan of the Year nominee Lawrence "Larry" Schmitz has attended every Cleveland Browns home game, hot dog and diet pop in hand, cheering from start to finish. Larry's Browns fandom started 40 years ago, bonding with family and friends as a season ticket holder. He first attended games with his oldest brother and later shared the tradition with his five children and 11 grandchildren. A lifelong Browns fan, Larry played football in his Cleveland neighborhood from age five and was inspired by his brother's stories of the 1964 NFL Championship. Proudly serving two-and-a-half years in the Marine Corps, Larry has also honored the Browns Salute to Service Game by holding the flag on the field, a moment shared with his daughter Katie in 2023.

Browns nominate Larry Schmitz for NFL's 2024 Fan of the Year. Schmitz stood next to his daughter Katie, as he was officially announced as the Browns Fan of the Year and nominated for the NFL's 2024 Fan of the Year. He was also awarded two tickets to the 2025 Super Bowl LIX. Schmitz's face lit up in excitement as Katie smiled proudly looking at her father. Schmitz has been a season ticket member with the Browns since 1985.
