How the Dawg Pound was Born
The story begins in 1985 at training camp, where Browns legends Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield barked across the line of scrimmage to fire up their teammates, and the fans followed. From those chants at Lakeland Community College, a movement was born.
That same year, the Dawg Pound took root at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, a section of loud, loyal fans wearing dog masks and costumes, barking through every down. Today, the tradition lives on in the east end zone (Sections 118–122) at Huntington Bank Field.
Exclusive Documentary
The Browns celebrate four decades of the Dawg Pound in a 22-minute documentary titled The Dawg Pound: A Forty-Year History, presented by KIA. Available on the team's digital and social channels, as well as News 5, the Browns' Official Flagship TV Partner, the film features interviews with Browns alumni, devoted fans, Cleveland media, current players, and coaches. It chronicles the Dawg Pound's origins, its adoption by fans, and its evolution into one of the most iconic fan sections in the NFL.
Dawg Pound XL Training Camp Theme Day
July 25
We're kicking off Browns Training Camp with a full-on Dawg Pound celebration. Join us on July 25 at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus for the first official theme day of camp as we launch Dawg Pound XL. Fans will receive an exclusive gate giveaway, courtesy of Gregory Industries, and can take part in a special Adult Dog Adoption Day, giving older dogs a second chance.

Dawg Pound XL Theme Game
September 21 vs. Packers
"Dawg Pound XL" will also be a dedicated game theme when the Browns face the Packers at Huntington Bank Field on Sept. 21. There will be a number of "Dawg Pound XL" themed items throughout the game including Puppy Pound Adoption on Dawg Pound Drive. This will also serve as Alumni Weekend for the Browns, when the team will host a number of Browns alumni and showcase them throughout the game.

For each home game, there will also be a number of "Dawg Pound XL" elements incorporated in new and unique ways, including additional "smash content" from the Browns' Dawg Pound captain – a tradition at each home game when a notable person smashes an opponent-themed guitar right before kickoff.
